Larrabee, President, Fairhaven, Washington. <br>Fairhaven, located towards the top of the map, on the coast, at the center of the concentric rings of red circles indicating distance, would merge with the adjacent town of Whatcom (or New Whatcom) in 1903, and both would change their collective names to Bellingham. The town was in constant competition to become the primary port of the northwest, but would inevitably (once it turned out that the transcontinental railroad would end further south) lose out to other towns, Seattle in particular.
