A group of students gather around a sculpture of a hand with its middle finger extended at Washington State University in Pullman, Washington. The statue is painted in the colors of the American flag and has a clown mask at the tip of the middle finger. During the late 1960s, college students across the United States protested a wide range of issues, including the Vietnam War, racial and gender inequality, and a cirriculum lacking diverse perspectives. This statue reflects the mood of those protests.
